Sapphire is the Birthstone for those born in the month of September. Sapphire is a variety of corundum that come in a variety of colors including shades of blue, white, pink, violet, yellow, black, and orange. The red color would be regarded as a ruby. The hardness of this hexagonal crystal system is 9. Fine Sapphires have been discovered in Australia, India, Tanzania, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Pakistan, East Africa, Madagascar, Afghanistan, and Cambodia.  

Sapphire is regarded and cherished as a stone of Royalty as it is believed to keep Kings from danger and envy. It has also been known to protect the wearer from fraud, dishonesty, ill temper, terror, stupidity, and poverty.  

Different colors correspond to different Chakras and different uses so here is a quick breakdown to assist you in choosing the best stone for yourself or others!

Blue Sapphire: Throat Chakra (5) and Third Eye (6), The elements are Earth and Wind. In Astrology blue sapphire is associated with the planet Saturn. Saturn represents discipline, order, and limitation and works well together with the energy of blue sapphire. Yellow Sapphire: Solar Plexus (3), The element is Fire. In Astrology yellow sapphire is associated with the planet Jupiter. Jupiter represents with energy of abundance and expansion. Yellow Sapphire is known as the Prosperity Stone. The third Chakra is the seat of will and Yellow Sapphire vibrates very well with this energy. Yellow Sapphire can help you merge the power of your will with the power of Divine will. Orange Sapphire (Padparadsha Sapphire): Sexual/ Creative (2) and Heart (4), The element is Fire. The Padparadsha Sapphire is found in Sri Lanka and is one of the rarest and most prized variety of Sapphire. The energy and value of the stone lies in its ability to awaken and cleanse the sexual and creative chakra. This provides a wealth of creativity as well as a fire and zest for life and sexual energy. Pink Sapphire: Heart Chakra (4), The elements are Water and Fire. Pink Sapphire encourages vulnerability, forgiveness, acceptance, and releases past emotional trauma. It looks a bit like a pale ruby and carries a much softer and gentler energy than the passion of a Ruby.  

White Sapphire: Third Eye (6) and Crown Chakra (7), The element is Wind. Know as the stone of “Strength of Spirit”, white or colorless sapphire opens up the powers of the mind and provides a connection between the vision and the manifestation of said vision. White Sapphire brings spiritual clarity, communication, courage, and can help the pineal and pituitary glands.  

Star Sapphire: When a star presents itself inside any type of stone, it enhances and magnifies the intensity and power of the stone. In the case of a Star Sapphire, It enhances wisdom and gives one the assistance to manifest and take action in the 3rd dimension.
